In the scene where the mother and daughter play with their dog near the pool, trainers put food inside of a rubber ball. The girl played with the ball moving it around with her hand, while the dog followed her actions. Actress got up and walked into the house with the dog following her.
In the scene where the actress talks to the dog while the dog watches her, trainers were off camera cuing dog to stay still.
