Animal Action

In the scene where the actor sits in interrogation room with a dog sitting next to him, prior to filming the trainer brought the dog to the set and placed him on the seat between the two actors. The trainer gave the actress kibble to hold in her hand to feed the dog once in a while to keep him in place. Then the trainer crouched down behind the actors off-camera to keep dog in place. Another trainer stood off-camera cuing him to sit still. On action, the actors delivered their lines while the dog sat between them.
In the scene where the actor talks to his family and the cat jumps on the kitchen counter, prior to filming the trainers carried the cat to set in a carrier. Once there, the trainer let him out and gave him time to acclimate. Since it was a long scene, they filmed all the actors talking, then filmed the cat separately. The trainer placed food on the counter, called action, and the cat ate from the bowl.
In the scene where the family walks through a carnival and they see several animals in a small petting zoo, including a rabbit, donkey, goat, pig, goose, and a dog, before filming, the trainers brought all the animals to the set. Trainers used large dog pen panels to transport the livestock from the van’s ramp to the set. After placing the animals in the pens, the trainer stood off-camera to cued them to stay still. Once they stopped filming, the trainers brought the animals back to their vans.
In the scene where the actress struts through the casino holding her small dog, stops, hands her dog to one of her henchmen, then takes him back, trainers brought the dog to the set on a leash from the holding room. The trainers introduced actors to the dog so they would be acquainted before filming the scene. On action, the actress walked to the dealer’s table, conducted the requisite action, then took the dog from the actor’s arms.
In the scene where the actress is on the phone in her office, holding the dog and places him on the ground, the trainers stood off-camera to make sure the dog was calm. The actress pet the dog and fed him kibble between shots.
In the scene where the actress walks inside the elevator and her henchman hands her the dog and they go down on elevator, the elevator doors were never closed. Prior to shooting the scene, the trainer handed the dog to actress. The trainer then stepped behind the camera. On action, the actress stood silently while holding the dog. Between shots, the dog was placed in his crate to take naps.
After they walk out of the elevator and into the garage before the actress talked to her men while holding the dog, trainers stood off-camera continuing to cue dog to remain in their eyeline and remain calm.
When actress gets in the backseat of SUV as they drive with the dog sitting next to her, prior to filming the trainer handed the dog to actress and ducked below the camera in the driver’s seat. The car never moved. The scene was filmed on stage against a green screen. During the scene, the dog sat among the actors looking at the trainer. In the subsequent scene where there’s gunfire outside the car, the sounds of the gunshots were inserted in post-production. The dog was never exposed to loud sounds or smoke.
In the scene where the actor walks towards the petting zoo in the carnival, sees a dog in the cage and lets him out, prior to shooting the dog was walked to set on leash by his trainer. Then the trainer placed the dog inside the cage and removed his leash. The actor has already been acquainted with the dog, so he wasn’t surprised when he opened the cage and greeted him. On action, the actor opened the cage and pet the dog. The dog reacted naturally before they cut camera.
