The Boys in the Boat (2024)

In the scene where the actors walk through a soup kitchen and we see two dogs sniffing food outside the door, prior to shooting the scene the dogs were led to set by the trainers. The trainer cued the dog to jump up onto a bench before he handed the other dog to the actor who remained sitting inside the doorway of a building. The trainer sprinkled kibble on the floor of the set just before the camera rolled. On action, the dog sniffed the food on the ground while the other dog remained on the bench.

In the scene where we see two actors climb into a cart in front of a house with two dogs sitting near the entrance, the dogs were led to set by the trainer. When the cameras were ready, the trainer sprinkled some small pieces of food on the floor at the front of the house. When action was called the dogs were unclipped from their leads and the trainer and handler stepped out of frame.

Production provided us with the documentation and taxidermy receipt for the dead rabbit.
