Ricki and the Flash (2015)
A musician who gave up her family to pursue a dream of rock and roll fame, returns home, a little more broken than before
Animal Action

Throughout the film, the Kevin Kline character has a pet dog, who is seen performing such mild action as sitting/standing/lying, being held or petted, and walking/running on or off leash. For all of these scenes, trainers used hand signals and verbal commands to cue the mild action, which the trained dog was accustomed to performing. The barking/growling was also a trained behavior.
In the scene where the dog and the actress are asleep together in the bed and the daughter wakes them up, the trainers placed the dog at the foot of the bed. The trainer placed her on her exact mark at the foot of the bed facing camera and the door. The dog had been well prepped prior to shooting the scene and she had her head down for the top of the scene.
