Encino Man (1992)

Dave has a dog named Boris. In the scene after Link melts and comes to life, Boris is the first one he meets. When Dave takes Link to meet his parents, Link remembers the dog and goes out in the back yard to play with him. They continue to play as Dave talks to his parents. We see Link in the background dancing with the dog on his shoulders. The dog was indeed playing with the actor. When we see the dog on Link’s shoulders, the dog was merely placed on the actor’s shoulders by his trainer and held by the actor. While in biology class Link discovers a dead frog in a jar. He takes the frog out of the jar, “cooks” the frog on one of the burners in the classroom, and proceeds to eat the frog. This was a fake frog made of candy. As the family sits at the dinner table, Link spots a fly. He grabs the fly out of mid air and pops it into his mouth. No fly is actually in this scene and the sound of the fly was added in post production. Boris is also seen barking, eating, sleeping and as the boys’ companion.
