In the scene when the actor walks into a busy courtyard where a crowd is protesting and he passes two policemen with dogs on leashes, prior to filming, the dogs were led to the set by their handlers in policemen costumes. The dogs were immediately allocated to a rest area removed from the crowd. Once all the background into position and the cameras were ready, the dogs were led into their positions with their handlers. The dogs were held in the line of policemen. The crane camera was a wide shot from behind protesters with the police line and dogs in the back of the shot. Trainers provided dogs with water between takes. Once the shot was done, the dogs were led back to their vans by their handlers.

In the scene where a satellite rises out of the ground and a herd of horses reacts and runs off, prior to filming, the horse master created an area where the horses would be working. Horses were led from the animal holding area by trainers and into the main fenced area. On action, a hunting horn was sounded, first to get horses’ attention, then feed buckets were shaken which caused them to canter out of the holding area. After getting the take, the horses were led back to their trailers.

In the scene where the actors walk into an empty warehouse/dog shed where we see six Huskies in six separate cages, a blue screen was placed behind them. We see two actors enter and walk between the two rows of kennels. Prior to filming, six dogs were led to the set and placed on marks in their kennels. The kennels were attached by strong cords or chains to a secure cable running along the base of the kennels. On action, the dogs were cued by an animal handler in a VFX blue suit who held dog treats on the end of an VFX pole which he bounced up and down in front of the kennels.
One of the animal handlers also walked along the passageway in front of the kennels with treats and used her voice cueing the dogs to jump up as she passed. After filming the dogs were released from kennels and brought to a back room where they were given food and water.

In the scene where the actress drives the dog sled across a snowy expanse, prior to shooting, eleven Huskies arrived to set in a trailer divided into sections. Each section housed two dogs and were bedded in fresh straw. Once handlers arrived they created a holding area in the snow, keeping the dogs in with a chain. Handlers brought dogs to their holding area and attached each one to their individual chain on the secure stake line.

The dogs were secured to sled line. Once the sled and dog line had been secured, ten dogs were walked individually by handlers and secured to the sled. On action, the handler drove the team of dogs to a particular mark. Another handler rode as a passenger on the front of the sled. Both handlers were in costume. After shooting the scene, the dogs were unharnessed and given treats. The dogs then walked to their transport trailer and were given fresh water.

In the scene where the actor looks down a hill and sees a man on horseback overseeing a few cows, prior to shooting production brought the horse and cows to a secured location. After shooting the very simple scene, animals were returned to their secured area.
