In the scenes where you see the actress playing with the monkey, the monkey was created through CGI. However, production brought a monkey into a studio and filmed the monkey walking, eating, etc. to capture his natural behaviors. The VFX utilized the footage of the monkey to create the CGI monkey.

When the girl runs out of her house and stops to say hello to her bearded dragon that sits in a basket near the door, prior to shooting the scene trainers brought the lizard to the set in his cage. The trainers also examined the laundry basket with set decorators. The trainer placed the lizard on top of the laundry. On action, the actress ran over, talked to the lizard and moved on. After a couple takes, they re-caged the lizard and brought him to his holding area.

In the scene where the kids walk into a cavernous tomb and they see cockroaches crawling on the walls, the actors and crew were prepped on how to behave near bugs prior to shooting. Before shooting, the trainers brought the containers of cockroaches to set. The wranglers picked up on roach at a time, placed it on the wall of the set, and held it there until the roach was comfortable on the wall. They also glued fake plastic bugs onto the walls. These plastic bugs included other roaches, centipedes, and horned beetles. On action, the four actors walked down a stairway and into the creepy tomb. The cockroaches moved on their own on the walls the encapsulated the actors. They called cut. The wranglers placed live roaches on some of the actors like their shoulders and backs. The wranglers also placed a live scorpion on a skull in front of the kids. On action, the kids walked to their mark, shone a flashlight on scorpion on skull, on the walls with the cockroaches. After calling cut, the wranglers removed the cockroaches from the actors and placed all the insects and the scorpion back in their containers.

In the scene where the girl trips onto the ground at the campsite and a snake slithers over her legs, before filming the wrangler carried the snake to set, and stood outside the frame. The actress lied on her back with her legs held over a log. On action, the wrangler placed the snake on the actress’ body. The snake slithered over her body. The other actor, who was instructed by wranglers on how to handle snake, stepped into frame and picked snake off of actress’ body. On cut, the wranglers placed the snake in a carrier.

In the scene where the actors walk through an amusement park and pass a few llamas in an enclosed pen, before filming wranglers placed lead ropes on the llamas, led them to the set, and released them inside the fenced enclosure. On action, the actors walked to their marks and talked, while background actors appeared as park attendants, and the llamas exhibiting natural behaviors.

In the scene where the actors walk to the driveway of a villa and one of them picks up a young capybara while talking to another actor, wranglers instructed actress on how to handle the animal prior to shooting the scene. On action, the actress walked to her mark, picked up the capybara and exchanged dialogue with the other actor. Between takes the wrangler took the animal from actress and gave him shade and water.
