Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990)

Definitely a comedy, Gremlins 2 spoofs just about everyone including a real estate tycoon, Don Clamp, who bears a close resemblance to another Donald. Gizmo, a strange but cute little gremlin, escapes a wrecker's ball only to find himself imprisoned in a research lab where he is to be the subject of an expermiment. Bill, who works in the same skyscraper that houses the laboratory, learns of Gizmo's plight and rescues him. Unfortunately, before Gizmo can reach safety, he gets wet, which causes gremlins to magically multiply. Gizmo's clones don't share his sweet disposition and soon the entire skyscraper is overrun with mischievous gremlins that threaten to destroy New York City.

The gremlins, of course, are animated. There are some live animals such as a cow, rats and monkeys that appear in the laboratory scenes. At one point, there’s an escape and they run through the corridors. They were actually just going from point A to point B with food as a reward. There are also fish in a tank at the lab. The script satirizes vivisectors and at the end, one researcher vows he will never hurt anything again.
