Mary Poppins Returns (2018)

All horseback riders were stunt riders or experienced actors who were skilled at riding, mounting and dismounting. All running/galloping scenes were well choreographed, and actors used caution while on and near animals. When teams of horses pulled wagons or carriages, the drivers were experienced and teams of horses were familiar with each other and accustomed to the pulling action. Whenever horses were seen tied to posts/fences, they were attached to lead ropes tied to posts.

In the scene where the actor bikes through town and there are horses and carriages in the background, police cut off traffic to shoot the scene. The horse was hitched to a cart which was filled with bags of coal. Prior to shooting the scene, the cart was in position on the set and the horse was immediately hitched to the cart. On action the horse walked forward pulling the coal cart.

In the scene when the woman walks dog in park and kids stop and pet dog, prior to shooting the trainer showed the kids how to pet the dog.

In the scene where a kite flies through the park and the dog barks at it, the dog was fitted with leather lead by the trainers prior to shooting the scene. On action, the dog was walked along the pathway. The trainer used a stick with a tennis ball on the end of it and hovered it above the dog, and the dog looked up at it and barked.

When we see the actress and kids swimming in the ocean and we see the woman with the dog on the leash in the water, the dog was filmed on green screen in a studio. The dog was led to the set by his trainer. An area was made for the trainer to stand with the dog. The platform for the dog to stand on was covered with a grip surface. The dog was placed in a comfortable box. The trainer leaned down and told the dog to stay. Then the special effects team filmed the dog in the box to make him look as if he were bobbing in the water.

When we see the family gather outside house and we see actress holding a dog, the actress walked forwards carrying the dog. After filming the scene. the trainer took the dog in her arms from the actress. During the scene, the trainer stood inside this door, ready to take the dog from the actress and put him on his lead and take him back to his start position.

In the scene when the man climbs the clock tower, comes to the ledge and sees a pigeon, the scene was shot in a studio. Trainers brought the pigeons to the set. Then the trainer placed a pigeon on a fake ledge using seed to keep him in place. The actor climbed up a ladder, they got the shot, and placed the bird back in his cage.

In the scene where we see the fair in the park, wide shot, and we see a dog on a leash and ponies in the background, three ponies were tacked up next to the horse box and walked along gravel pathway by the grooms in costume and positioned in roped off small pony riding enclosure on set. Between takes the horses were given food and water and kept in the shade.

In the scene, where the dog has a string in his mouth being lifted in the air, they used the footage of the dog filmed against the greenscreen and placed it on a scanner.
