Animal Action

In the scene where we see a couple chickens grazing in a gas station’s parking lot, prior to filming, chickens were carried in their cages from the van to a holding area in the shade. The chickens were then lifted from their cages and into the pen by their trainer. A small amount of food reward was placed on the ground inside the pen. On rolling, the pen was lifted, the trainer placed more food on the ground close to the chickens, then moved off camera. On action, the chickens were allowed free movement around their mark to search for food. The chickens were placed back in the van after the scene.
In the scene where the van drives past an accident where a truck has hit a cow, and we see a disemboweled cow on the road, production used a fake cow with silicon entrails. They provided us with all the receipts for the entrails, and we were on set to confirm the cow was fake. There were also cows in the background. We made sure those cows were a safe distance from the cars on the road.
In the scene where the actor sits in a horse stall and we see cows in the stables beside her, the set was examined by the handlers prior to filming. The pen floors were examined for any sharp stones or other objects. The cow action was background only.
