The Pope’s Exorcist (2023)

In the scene where the man walks towards a house and walks past a large hog with its owner, the pig was very well handled and conditioned to being moved with stick boards. The handlers were very experienced working with pigs. The handlers helped walk the pig and remained onset and close to the pig at all times.

In the scene where the priest conducts an exorcism on a victim and a pig ambles into the room, before an actor takes out a shotgun and shoots pig in the head, the scene was filmed in separate sections. Prior to filming, the handlers walked the pig from the holding area into the set using boards. The head handler entered first, holding food in front of the pig to tempt the pig to walk forwards. The gun used in the scene was not loaded and the trigger was not pulled in the scene.  On action, the pig came to the pile of food at its and ate.

The second actor lifted his shotgun and aimed it at the pig and mimed shooting him. Production used a fake pig to make it look as it it were shot. The gunfire was inserted in post production.
